Cot bedding sets made of harmful fabrics

An interesting article appeared in one of our local newspapers yesterday. It described an incident that took place in our town a couple of weeks ago. One of the largest shopping centres sold over a hundred cot bedding sets at a discount. After a couple of days, several cases of unexplained skin rush in children were reported. Parents were seeking advice of paediatricians at several out-patient clinics. Of course, all cases were interconnected. It turned out that the fabric used to make the cot bedding sets contained some dangerous chemicals. The cotton had probably been grown in polluted areas or the fabric had been manufactured in a place where such substances were present. Fortunately, the skin allergy is not dangerous. It disappeared after two or three days in most children. Only three cases turned out to be more serious, but the allergy was fought within a week. The police are looking into this incident at the moment. The shopping centre is not to be blamed because they did not even suspect that they were putting their customer"s health at risk. The manufacturer of the cot bedding sets has not been cross-questioned yet, but the conditions under which he sets were manufactured are being examined.
